We spent Christmas in Idaho this year and had a jolly old time. It was fun relaxing with family, sleeping in, skating on the pond, sledding, shooting, shopping and holding a family basketball game. Hope your Christmas was just as nice.

Halloween

Last Saturday we dressed up as Bill Nye & Ms. Frizzle from the Magic School Bus and hosted a Halloween Party.

St. George

Aaron borrowed Grandpa Parkinson's hat and it imbued in him the power of the wolf. He was wildly successful catching fish under six inches.

Aaron spent six long weeks in St. George as part of his pharmacy school rotations. Although he came home to work most weekends, it was not fun being apart. One weekend I took Friday off and drove down. We stayed with Grandma Parkinson (where Aaron had been staying) and enjoyed the longest weekend we have had off together since our honeymoon. We visited family, went shopping, scoured thrift stores, ate out and went fishing with Aunt Susie, Uncle Aron, Stewart and Megan.

Rockland

This year we spent Labor Day weekend at the Munk family cabin in Idaho. Ihad been craving a visit for some time and was very excited to go.

Rockland is a small town and our cabin is located on the family farm between several large fields. The cabin has no internet, TV orcell phone reception. If you want to make a call you have to hike East ForkCanyon or drive up to the cemetery. It is so beautiful and peaceful there!We all love spending the day playing hard outside and then sitting on the bigporch looking up the canyon in the evening. It's so nice to detach yourselffrom the technology dominating your life and just spendtime with your family.

As I mentioned in my last post, I failed to take many photos of ouradventures. However, there are tons or Emily’s seniors. You can see some of thosehere and here.

Last week my family was in town for a few days before we call headed to Rockland for the weekend. Although I took hundreds of photos of Emily, (her belated seniors which will be posted soon) I just realized how few images I have of everyone else. Fortunately, we took some with most of the family at Yogurtland.

This is why Emy loves Yogurtland. All of the bowls and spoons there feature Sanrio characters. Naturally, she requested that we all to turn in our Hello Kitty and Keroppi spoons so that she could wash and reuse them. Donations of real silverware or other food related items to this poor starving college student are always welcomed. :)

August Happenings

We have enjoyed a busy month of celebrations and visits from family and friends. To kick off August, two of my very best friends flew in from California and Alabama. We spent a weekend true to Rachel, Elissa, and Adrian form: eating delicious food, viewing beautiful things, and giggling.

August also included an apartment move, a new ward, our second wedding anniversary, fishing, dinner with friends, Aaron's birthday, my birthday, and weekly tennis matches.

4th of July

Every Fourth of July the Parkinsons gather in Delta, UT for a fun-filled day. The festivities start out with a jet flyby and a parade largely dominated by tractors and local dairy princesses. Next it's time for large inflatable obstacle courses and games in the park. We have a picnic, take a swim at the local pool, grab pizza at Lotsa Motsa and head to the main event...the demolition derby!

In honor of the demolition derby Aaron grew a nasty (er...I mean handsome) set of chops.

These two got a little excited about the cheese puffs...

After the parade the local fish and game stocks a pool with live fish. They then allow large groups of children try to catch their family some dinner. It is hilarious to watch! My favorite age group is the 3-yr-olds. So funny! Some of the kids are get scared while others just dive in.

Lehi Round-Up Rodeo

Continuing on with the binge blogging, here are a few images from the Lehi Rodeo last month.

It's more than likely that I will get in trouble for posting this, but isn't this a fantastic hair net? Mom would make the cutest lunch lady ever! :) While we watched the Rodeo Mom and Dad helped out at the concession stand.

This was Aaron's favorite event. The cowboys had to saddle these unruly stallions. It was pretty funny. The man holding the grey horse ended up getting pulled on his belly across the stadium. Not as good as mutton busting, (sadly it was the day before) but pretty close.

If I was a rodeo princess I would SO have this outfit! It was my favorite.

Utah Arts Festival

From our recent blog posts (not to mention the upcoming rodeo and demolition derby posts) you may think that Aaron is rubbing off too much on me. Lest you think I am becoming a ruffian, I provide proof otherwise...photos of Stephanie and I at the Utah Arts Festival.

I love the Arts Fest and try to go every year. It's so fun to walk around looking at all of the unique pieces and listening to local bands play. Many of my favorite artists from last year were there again as well as many new ones. Thanks again for coming with me Steph! It's always fun to spend time with you and it was entertaining watching you try to get trade secrets out of that ceramics guy. ;)

Yarn Bombing could be found throughout the festival as part of the random acts of art project. A group of rogue knitters got together before the festival and covered light posts, parking meters, benches, railings and trees.

Memorial Day we went fishing with Mom & Dad Parkinson. We were hoping for some Northern Pike, but as you can see, there were only lots and lots of carp. We caught a couple and had a great time.

Last week we went to St. George with Aaron's parents and brother, Brett. While there, we hiked Angels Landing in Zion National Park; visited three sets of grandparents as well as some cousins, aunts, and uncles; had a picnic; went shopping; rock climbed and repelled. Easter Egg Hunt

Every year my mother-in-law does the BEST Easter egg hunt! Now you may be thinking, aren't you a little too old for an egg hunt? Egg hunts are too easy for adults... Obviously you have not been to a Parkinson egg hunt. As an adult it takes you a good 45 min + to find your treats and sometimes requires a game of "hot and cold."

One year Aaron's bag was sewn to the couch! Sewn! If you pulled it out from the wall you saw nothing, if you looked under the couch you saw nothing. Genius! She has also been known to hide treats in ceiling vents, at the bottom of tissue boxes (then covered over again with tissues), in light fixtures, etc. She is a wiz and spends the whole year thinking of new hiding spots. Obviously none of the old spots can ever be used again.

This year was as usual, a blast! It's so much fun to run around the house pulling open drawers and digging through book cases (you can't put the idea of a hollowed out book past her). Once everyone has found the bag marked with their name, it's time for candy bartering.

Holi or Bust

Yesterday Robert and I went to Holi: Festival of Colors and had a blast! Surprisingly Utah's festival is the largest in the United States! Thousands of people poured into the Krishna Temple grounds to throw colors. It was amazing to witness! See the video clip at the bottom for an idea.

Last week Anna & Zach invited Aaron and me to go to Color Me Mine. For those of you who have not been, Color Me Mine is a pottery painting studio. I thought the guys might get bored, but everyone really enjoyed themselves. Aaron and Zach painted cereal/salsa bowls while Anna went for a giant coco cup and I made a birthday plate. Anyone who wants to eat with the zebra on their birthday is welcome to come over. :)

I finally edited through most of Anna & Zach's wedding photos and thought I would share a few. The day of the wedding I had some major camera issues. One being my camera card corrupting (thanks again Nathan for saving the day!!!). However, being in the temple to witness Anna & Zach's sealing was a treasured experience. I am so proud of Anna and all of the good decisions she has made in her life. We all love Zach and could not be happier for the couple!

We stated out the new year with some sparklers. Notice Aaron's sparklers are more brilliant due to him lighting them all at once.

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day we decided to try snow shoeing with Anna, Zach, and some friends from home. We learned that we are not snow shoeing people.

We also learned that we are apparently "immature/irresponsible" amateur walkie talkie users who would rather...

or ambush the rest of the group than pretend to be mountain goats. :)

This month we: celebrated Robert's birthday, watched General Conference, played games with friends, enjoyed the downtown library book sale, took many tests in school, listened to spooky Halloween stories, visited the aviary, went to a Halloween party, carved a pumpkin, and Aaron was released from the Elders Quorum Presidency and called as the new Young Men President. Definitely a fun month!

On Saturday, the 25th day of September 2010, we participated in The Dirty Dash 10K held at Soldier Hollow. It was a team race and we finished in the top 25 out of over 600 teams. Thorough showering was required after the making of these pictures.

A few weeks ago we decided we decided that it would be fun to go to the Stampede Festival on Antelope Island. Since neither of us had ever been to Antelope Island, we packed a picnic dinner and crossed the Great Salt Lake. We had a great time relaxing and watching all of the trick kites while we listened to local bands play nearby. However, the greatest excitement was definitely when they began to fill the hot air balloons.

August is a big month for us. We celebrate our anniversary, Aaron's birthday, and then mine all within a week and a half. Additionally, this August we took a trip to Seattle, had lots of family and friends visit, played mini golf, went for a hike, started a new semester of school, I applied for graduation and started working full time at Salt Lake Community College.

Outside of our Seattle trip we took very few pictures, but I did surprise Aaron with a book summarizing our first year. Every night before bed we record what we are thankful for that day. So I decided to start a habit of compiling our thankful as well as pictures from the year into a book. Lazy man's scrapbooking I suppose. :) You can take a look here if you would like.

Rockland 4th of July

This year Aaron and I got to spend the 4th of July in Rockland, ID with my family. As illustrated by the 1st image, Rockland is a pretty small town. However, if you think that means our fourth was uneventful you would be wrong. Unlike the Independence days I grew up with where we really only celebrated with fireworks, Rockland spends the entire day partying. The day starts early with a 5k, then breakfast, an aerial candy drop, greased hogs, chicken catching, relay races, cotton candy/snow cones/baked goods, water activities for the kids, a BBQ lunch, auction, etc. Not to mention the horses riding, skeet shooting, volleyball, canoeing, motorcycling, hiking, and visiting that our family did additionally. Undoubtedly a fun time was had by all.

June was a fun-filled month for us. Some of the highlights included: Aaron floating the Green with his dad, tennis matches, games with friends, wally ball, the Squire reunion, Canyonlands National Park, Father's Day, free tickets to the REAL game, hiking Ensign Peak, and watching the "fake Beatles"/fireworks at Taylorsville Dayzz.

Oh, and I suppose this was not what you could call a "highlight," but there was an incident while cutting Aaron's hair on Sunday...the attachment fell off and I failed to notice before taking a large chunk of Aaron's hair...he is currently sporting a bowl cut. Pretty handsome I must say ;)

Canyonlands National Park

Recently Aaron and I got to spend the weekend in Price. We had a fun time visiting and playing games with his family, spent most of Sunday discovering rock art with his parents, and hiked Horseshoe Canyon on Memorial Day.

Rockport

I am not going to lie, it's really tempting not to get a full-time job when not having one is so much fun! Don't worry Mom I promise that I truly am looking. :) Since Aaron's rotations do not start for a few weeks we have been having a blast spending Tuesdays and Thursdays together. This Tuesday we went to Lehi and Thursday morning was spent in Rockport. As you can tell from the photos, Aaron got some quality fishing in. I however, spent the morning exploring with my camera, reading, and writing a letter to a friend. Life is good!

True Olympians

Last Tuesday Aaron and I both had the day off and decided a trip to Park City would be fun. Lucky for us it was also National Tourism Day which of course meant free BBQ at the visitor center! After enjoying our yummy lunch we headed over to the Utah Olympic Park for some hard core skiing. Unfortunately we had to take turns seeing how we forgot our other ski suit and trendy hair piece at home. After a few good runs it was on to the museum, a short bobsled run, and then shopping at the outlets. Basically, it was an ideal day trip.

April Excitement

Oh Spring! At long last spring has arrived...well minus the last few days of snow :) Aaron and I have both been busy finishing up another semester of school. However, we have made sure to get out and enjoy as much of the nice weather as possible. In our free minutes we played tennis, went to the park, rode bikes, feed ducks, and just relaxed outside.

Last week week Aaron and I went to Murray Park to feed the ducks. It might not look like it here, but this coupled with another large bag was months and months of bread heels. The ducks loved us!

Since we are well into April, I suppose it's time for another month wrap-up. YAY! I know you have all been just dying in anticipation. :) I do apologize for the lack of posts, but unfortunately until I am done with this semester, this is the way it has to be. Kick back and enjoy. On St. Patrick's Day Aaron and I had the opportunity to go to a cheese tasting at Tony Caputo's Market. We had a fun time tasting the most delicious and the most disgusting cheeses we have ever had. Afterwords we could not resist posing in front of the "Cheese Cave."

This is poor broken nosed Robert before his surgery. Since I had spring break that week, I was able to play nurse and make sure he did not do anything silly while he was under anesthetics.

October was a fun and busy month for us. For starters, Anna and I decided to drive to St. George over my spring break (sadly Aaron's was not until a few weeks later) to see Aida and visit with family. We had a blast! Then there was general conference, finishing all of our wedding thank yous, several parties, Kennan's Wedding, movies, performances, and of course spending time with family and friends. We also got new church callings and kept full schedules with work and school. As you can imagine, Aaron and I don't get to see each other very often. However, in response to the typical newlywed question: yes, we are loving married life!
